Mother of Many is a free-to-play indie game from the Brainwash Gang. In this action experience, you play as the titular Mother of Many, who is tasked with feeding dozens of mouths relying on her to survive. It’s far from simply dramatic though, as you find yourself fighting hordes of monsters in order to feed the young.

A unique tale of mother’s love

In Mother of Many, you start with a rather intriguing premise. Deep in the woods, there’s a family of mice. You’re tasked with finding food to feed your large family. However, it’s not a simple farming or foraging game. You have to fight against hordes of demons in an effort to end the curse that prevents food from growing on your land.

It features simple controls familiar to most players. You use WASD to move around, the left mouse button to attack, and Space to jump. Aside from its keyboard and mouse controls, the game also supports gamepad control input. Its intuitive controls also work well with the graphics, sporting a 3D pixel art style that adds to the overall vibe of the game.

Lastly, there are other game mechanics other than fighting. You also try and grow plants as a form of upgrading your capabilities on top of sustaining your family. However, the game has quite a short playthrough. This also ends in a rather questionable ending, and playing it again to find other endings doesn’t make the entire picture any clearer. This vagueness works depending on your storytelling preferences.

Overall, Mother of Many is a definite must-try. It has an intriguing premise that pulls players in. While the story sounds centered on drama, it’s actually a great action experience with fantasy properties blended in. Not only do you mindlessly hack and slash countless hordes of enemies, but every stage contributes to a progressing story that ends in a rather vague ending. This game is highly recommended.
